Shimla in Himachal

Shimla is the capital city of Himachal Pradesh. It is located in the north-west Himalayas. It is well known in the name “Queen of Hills”. It is place with architectural buildings with wooden crafts. Shimla is very famous in its historical events. It was the summer capital of British before Independence. British derived the name Shimla from “Shyamala”. The name represents the goddess Kali. Shimla consists of roads and rails which connect it with all parts of Himachal Pradesh as well as neighboring states such as Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir.

Most of the parts of Shimla are occupied by dense forests. Shimla is very beautiful in all seasons. In summer, it covers with flowers of different colors. Everywhere seems greenery. Christ Church is the second oldest church in North India. Church was designed in 1844 by a British Engineer Colonel JT Boileau. It was built by British and located at Ridge in Shimla. Jakhu Temple

This is a temple of Lord Hanuman. It is situating at an altitude of 8048 ft above sea level. Since it is at the highest point of Shimla Ridge, one can view the whole town and village areas. Sun rises and sets can be viewed at this spot. Its location is in the dense forests of Jakhu hills.

Himachal State Museum and Library

The state museum includes ancient collection of coins, photos, sculptures, paintings and handicrafts. It is 2.5 Km west of scandal point. The museum was inaugurated in 1974. The library is provided with historical books and manuscripts. Museum and Library is remained open in all days except Monday.
