FORT KOCHI
Fort Kochi is one of the Historic Cities in Kerala. A leisurely walk through the city is the best way to discover the Historic Fort Kochi. Fort Kochi constitutes the city of Cochin. The very name Kochi is derived from the term ‘kochazhi’ which means ‘small lagoon’. With the arrival of Chinese to the place in the 14th century converted the place to seem to be like China. Thus, the place was called as ‘Cochin’.
In the olden days of kingship, it Kochi was a fishing village. Since the arrival of Portuguese Kochi is known as Fort Kochi. The St Francis Church was built by the Portuguese in Fort Kochi which is very historic today. The Portuguese ruled Fort Kochi for about 160 years and the Dutch held it for about 112 years. After the independence of Indian in 1947 Fort Kochi started to grow and modernism came into being in Kochi. The culture of Portuguese, Dutch and British were seen in the later times even in building structures. Such buildings still exist in Fort Kochi.

These are only the main tourist spots. In fact there so many other historic and beautiful places to visit in Fort Kochi.
